THAMES VALLEY HOODS

An area group of the RHOCaR club - all things Robin Hood Kit Cars

Commute in the Hood ? (Tell us about it !)

 Practical ... AND ... Fun !

The summer is here ('04) , time for the Hoods to really earn their keep - the daily grind to work and back becomes a grin factory ! Evidence of commited use for commuting was sought and forthcoming from all those shown below - they certainly look better with the sun sparkling on the gleaming bodies ...... the cars that is.

ROB WALTERS

he's commuting in November ! , Rob says ..............

"I know this is an old thread, but at the time my car was off the road. well its back on the road now running better than ever so I thought I would add my contribution. My car is more or less in the same place as when Jeremy drove his car in, although the temperature is probably 20 deg colder than when Jeremy (Welsh Girly) drove his in.

Many many thanks to my friends John Peach and Duncan Mould for spending the time last Friday evening in getting my car back on the road for me. I Look forward to seeing you all at the Christmas dinner, hopefully we should get quite a few hoods. I thought John P's car looked great last year with the tinsel. "

Is there anyone else still commuting, ?? If so, please send photo proof, and I'll load it here for all to see how brave you are ! The duration record is held by Irene, 20 consecutive days of commuting, M40, heavy rain, the lot.

JEREMY HATCHER

Here's Jeremy Hatcher's Hood nestled amongst the tin tops in his company car park.

JOHN PEACH

And here is our Area Secretary's (John Peach) motor - we can only assume he took the long route to work for this fine backdrop !

GRAHAM MINTRAM

Has been cruising in the Hood on a daily basis too !

In the background you can see that there is a strange structure in the field - I've been told it's a vector point for aircraft - anyone know if that's right ? Here's a close up ! (Let me know through the Feedback link on the left).

Some thoughts from Terry Barry :

Where did you spot that construction in the field ? Somewhere I've got a photo of something similar , in Derbyshire I
think. No idea as to what it was, but if I can find it I'll mail you a copy. Cheers, Terry !

Keep looking ! (It was near Maidford , Northants).

Looks like "Inspector Terry" has solved the riddle : "There's a good picture of the one at Lambourne on
this website
http://www.trevord.com/navaids/    Terry ".

Having checked it out - I reckon it's this one : http://www.trevord.com/navaids/dty.htm - Thanks Terry.
